Does your home look a little bit tired? Maybe it’s time to give your home a fresh new look to help bring it up to date. You don’t have to spend a fortune; a fresh coat of paint, sparkly clean windows and the addition of some new accessories can transform your home in an instant.
If you’re feeling even more adventurous and you have a little bit more cash to spare, you could replace carpets with wood or wood effect flooring, and curtains with blinds for a more modern look.
The Living Room
Using bold colours on fabrics such as cushions, rugs and throws are a great way to add colour without a having to decorate your entire room. Set against simple, white painted walls, you can easily inject the latest colour trends and adapt your décor without having to redecorate your entire room.
Covers and throws can be changed to match the seasons; choose chocolate browns, deep reds and beige for cosy feel in Autumn or Winter. During Spring and Summer, you can experiment with bright colours such as oranges, yellows and greens to brighten up the room.
If you want to update your kitchen, but you don’t want the expense and hassle of installing a brand new one, think about changing the fronts of your cupboards and drawers. You could even consider adding a new worktop, although this is a slightly costlier alternative as your measurements are likely to be more bespoke than standard fixtures and fittings.
The internet provides a wealth of inspiration and online stores that could help you achieve a kitchen makeover that won’t cost the earth. Buying new kitchen accessories like a statement kettle or a toaster are a great way to accessorise your room and inject a splash of colour.
The Dining Room
The dining room provides the perfect opportunity to be bold. Paint your dining room a colour that you like, there are no rules or standards you should have to conform to here! Putting a beautiful vase in the middle of your dining room table and filling it with fresh or dried flowers make the perfect statement. Combined with some modern table mats, a stylish table cloth, and perhaps a new light fitting, you’ll have the ideal room to host your dinner party guests.
A new set of bedding, a nice new rug, and a lick of paint will freshen your bedroom up immediately. Choose white, lilac, pale blue or green for a calming, restful tone. If you’ve got kids who enjoy a more playful room, fill it with colour to make it bright and cheerful.
Much like your kitchen, restyling the bathroom can be a costly affair. If you don’t want to replace the whole bathroom suite, simply re-tiling can make a big difference. Adding freshly washed, fluffy co-ordinated towels, a new bathmat, and a new shower curtain can instantly transform your bathroom without costing the earth.
Don’t forget if you’re sprucing up the inside, look at the outside too. Paint the front door if it needs it, or give it a good wash down if it’s PVC. Paint or varnish any wooden fencing, weed the garden, and give your driveway a good sweep to give the ideal first impression.
